Anne d'Orléans (1464 – 1491 in Poitiers) was the youngest child of Charles, Duke of Orléans and Maria of Cleves. Her only brother became king Louis XII of France in 1498. Anne became abbess of Fontevraud in 1477. This was an abbey in which both monks and nuns lived, but was always ruled by an abbess.

She was also the Abbess of Val-de-Grâce, a church built under the auspices of her maternal and paternal great-grandmother Anne of Austria, the wife of King Louis XIII. Her elder sister, the Duchess of Berry, died on 21 July 1719 and was found to be pregnant again, just over three months after suffering a horrendous confinement during which she had been denied the Sacraments.
