Biography . Anna Elisabeth Auguste Alexandrine, Duchess of Mecklenburg-Schwerin was born on 7 April 1865 at Schwerin the only child of Friedrich Franz II, Grand Duke of Mecklenburg-Schwerin and his second wife, Anna, Princess of Hesse and by the Rhine, who died 9 days later.
The Grand Duchy of Mecklenburg-Schwerin ( German: Großherzogtum Mecklenburg-Schwerin) was a territory in Northern Germany held by the House of Mecklenburg residing at Schwerin. It was a sovereign member state of the German Confederation and became a federated state of the North German Confederation and finally of the German Empire in 1871.
Anna von Tecklenburg-Schwerin (1532-1582) was the ruling suo jure Countess of Tecklenburg and the lordships of Wevelinghoven and Rheda between 1557 and 1582. She was regent of the County of Bentheim-Steinfurt during the minority of her son in 1562–1573.
