Out of the Past is so perfect a film noir that it is considered practically a textbook example of the genre. Out of the Past (Verenigd Koninkrijk: Build My Gallows High) is een Amerikaanse film noir uit 1947 onder regie van Jacques Tourneur. De film werd in 1991 opgenomen in het National Film Registry .
