Life. Born in Kassel, he was the seventh son of Charles I, Landgrave of Hesse-Kassel and Maria Amalia of Courland. After his elder brother Frederick became King of Sweden in 1720 and his father died in 1730, he became de facto ruler of Hesse-Kassel. He officially became landgrave after his brother's death on 25 March 1751.
Maurice of Hesse-Kassel (13 June 1614 – d. 16 February 1633) Sophie of Hesse-Kassel (12 September 1615 – 22 November 1670), married Philip I, Count of Schaumburg-Lippe. Frederick, Landgrave of Hesse-Eschwege (9 May 1617 – 24 September 1655) inherited Eschwege. Christian of Hesse-Kassel (5 February 1622 – 14 November 1640) probably poisoned.
5 de mar. de 2017 · In 1760 Mary’s father-in-law died and her husband became the Landgrave of Hesse-Kassel. The inheritance did nothing to change the dynamics of the marriage and the couple remained apart, though Mary took the title of “Landgravine” for the next 12 years. She died at her home in Hanau on February 1, 1772 and was buried in Germany.
