Tallulah Bankhead, (born Jan. 31, 1902, Huntsville, Ala., U.S.—died Dec. 12, 1968, New York, N.Y.), U.S. film and stage actress. Born to a prestigious family (her father became a prominent congressman), she made her Broadway debut in 1918 and achieved fame on the London stage in The Dancer (1923).
Tallulah Bankhead was one of the rare silent film stars that successfully made the transition to talkies, then radio and television. She was a fixture on Broadway. Her most notable "The Little Foxes" won her the New York Drama Critics' Circle Award and repeated with a second award for "The Skin of Our Teeth".

Tallulah Bankhead was born the daughter of Congressman William Bankhead on January 31, 1902 in Huntsville, AL. Her mother died of sepsis soon after her birth and as a result Bankhead was raised by several relatives. After winning a beauty contest at 16, she headed to New York City and found stage work but little success.
