Richard Cromwell. Born in 1626, he remained in the background as the Civil War ended, Charles I was executed and the Commonwealth established. After his marriage in 1649 he lived quietly among the Hampshire gentry, enjoying hunting and country pursuits, acting as a magistrate and playing an occasional minor role in local government.
Richard Cromwell, noto anche, in italiano, come Riccardo Cromwell [1] ( Huntingdon, 4 ottobre 1626 – Cheshunt, 12 luglio 1712 ), è stato un politico inglese e Lord Protettore d' Inghilterra, Scozia e Irlanda dal 3 settembre 1658 al 25 maggio 1659, quando fu costretto alle dimissioni dal Parlamento inglese.
Richard Cromwell, der über viele Jahre ein starker Raucher war und zeitweise Werbung für Lucky Strike machte, verstarb im Alter von nur 50 Jahren an Leberkrebs. Er liegt in Santa Ana begraben. Für seine Verdienste um die Filmindustrie hat Cromwell einen Stern auf dem Hollywood Walk of Fame (1627 Vine Street).
