William Dennison Jr. (November 23, 1815 – June 15, 1882) was a Whig and Republican politician from Ohio. He served as the 24th governor of Ohio and as U.S. Postmaster General in the Cabinet of President Abraham Lincoln during the American Civil War .

Biographical / Historical. William Thomas Denison (1804-1871) was born in London and attended Eton and the Royal Military College. He graduated in 1826 as a lieutenant in the Royal Engineers. He served in Canada and later worked on harbour defences in southern England. In 1838 he married Caroline Hornby and they had six sons and four daughters.
