This killed his father, an archdeacon, and consumed the family home. Young Schinkel watched the town’s reconstruction, enraptured, from a home for the widows of clergy.

Karl Friedrich Schinkel (13. marec 1781 - 9. oktober 1841) je bil pruski arhitekt, urbanist in slikar, ki je oblikoval tudi pohištvo in scenografijo. He became a student of architect Friedrich Gilly (1772-1800). After returning to Berlin from his first trip to Italy in 1805, he started to earn his living as a painter.
