William Wordsworth fue uno de los más importantes poetas románticos ingleses. Con Samuel Taylor Coleridge, contribuyó al inicio de la época romántica en la literatura inglesa con su publicación conjunta de Baladas líricas en 1798. William Wordsworth (ˈwɜːdzˌwəθ) (7. dubna 1770 Cockermouth, Lake District, Anglie – 23. dubna 1850 Rydal Mount) byl anglický romantický básník. Byl členem tzv. jezerní školy , tedy skupiny umělců, kterou spojoval život uprostřed nádherné přírody v Jezerní oblasti (anglicky Lake District ) na severozápadě Anglie.
Wordsworth’s wealth afforded William the opportunity to use his father’s library to learn and be inspired by some of the literary greats. Whilst his exposure to literature was critical, it was his childhood in the Lake District and his time spent at his grandparents’ house at Penrith which would have a notable impact on Wordsworth’s subject matter in his poetry.

William Wordsworth (April 7, 1770 - April 23, 1850) was a major English poet who, with Samuel Taylor Coleridge, helped launch the Romantic movement in English literature with their 1798 joint publication, Lyrical Ballads. Romanticism emerged in the late eighteenth century in reaction to the rationalism of the Enlightenment.
