Carlos Emico de Leiningen (Karl Emich Nikolaus Friedrich Hermann, 12 de junio de 1952) es el hijo mayor de Emico Cirilo, vii príncipe de Leiningen, y su esposa la duquesa Eilika de Oldemburgo, y es un hermano mayor de Andreas, VIII Príncipe de Leiningen. Es el descendiente no morganático directo de las familias reales rusa Romanov y alemana Hanover .
Carl Ludwig II was born at Langenburg, then in the Kingdom of Württemberg, as the first child of Ernst I, Prince of Hohenlohe-Langenburg (1794–1860; son of Karl Ludwig, Prince of Hohenlohe-Langenburg and Countess Amalie Henriette of Solms-Baruth) and his wife, Princess Feodora of Leiningen (1807–1872), daughter of Emich Carl, 2nd Prince of Leiningen and Princess Victoria of Saxe-Coburg ...
A member of the Hardenburg branch of the House of Leiningen, Karl was born in Amorbach, the son of Prince Emich Carl of Leiningen (1763–1814) by his second marriage with Princess Victoria of Saxe-Coburg-Saalfeld (1786–1861). He was the only son, as Emich Carl's son by his first wife, Friedrich, had died in 1800.
