Biografía. Nació en Bückeburg, hijo del príncipe Adolfo I de Schaumburg-Lippe y de la princesa Herminia de Waldeck-Pyrmont (1827-1910). Sucedió como príncipe de Schaumburg-Lippe a la muerte de su padre el 8 de mayo de 1893 y reinó hasta su muerte el 29 de abril de 1911 en Bückeburg.
