It is perhaps one of the clearest symptoms of how the series overtook the manga as Hohenheim’s story in that isn’t covered until much later. Therefore he’s set up to be important but he’s also not meant to be much more than a minor character.

Van Hohenheim (ヴァン・ホーエンハイム Van Hōenhaimu?) o Hohenheim de la Luz (光のホーエンハイム Hikari no Hōenhaimu?) es un personaje del manga y anime Fullmetal Alchemist. Es el padre de los hermanos Elric, que se marchó de casa cuando ellos eran pequeños, por motivos desconocidos.
Hohenheim is a fairly tall, broad-shouldered gentleman with the appearance of a man of relatively healthy middle-age. He wears his long, golden-blond hair in a loose, shoulder-length ponytail with two or three loose strands of hair falling over his brow and sports a full Donegal-style beard on his square jaw.
