Stillwater. Fictional band in the 2000 released movie Almost Famous written and directed by Cameron Crowe. The film is partially inspired by the December 1973 Rolling Stone cover story Crowe wrote about The Allman Brothers Band after spending 3 weeks on the road with the band at the age of 16.

Cameron Crowe's 2000 movie Almost Famous left some wondering if Stillwater was a real band or not. The answer is yes, but the band featured in the movie was completely fictional and based on several groups that Crowe covered for Rolling Stone during the early '70s (namely the Eagles and Led Zeppelin, among others).
