George Stevens’ A PLACE IN THE SUN tackles these issues and the film continues to resonate for me, 60-some-odd years after it was filmed. It’s one of my favorite films and I never tire of watching it, because it makes me understand these ideas on a visceral level. It feels as topical today as it did when it was released.
