North by Northwest is vlot, heeft humor en leuke acteurs, en is misschien wel Hitchcock's meest toegankelijke film. Zoals anderen al opmerkten een duidelijke inspiratiebron voor James Bond. Het verhaal is niet heel ingenieus, maar er zijn genoeg leuke scenes waarvan die met het vliegtuigje wel tot de canon van iconische filmscenes kan worden gerekend.
