  2. Blickling Hall was built by the surveyor Robert Lyminge for Sir Henry Hobart between 1616 and 1626, on the site of a late medieval moated hall which it largely replaced. It was supplied with elaborate gardens and a banqueting house, set within two deer parks, one of C12 origin.

Built in the Jacobean era, during the reign of King James I, it is a red brick confection of windows, turrets and chimneys rising 5 storeys high. Although the present house dates from the early 1600s, Blickling Hall’s history is even longer and more famous.

At over two centuries old, the pyramid structure stands boldly on the edge of ancient woodland, creating a unique and dramatic view across the sweeping landscape.
