Built in the Jacobean era, during the reign of King James I, it is a red brick confection of windows, turrets and chimneys rising 5 storeys high. Although the present house dates from the early 1600s, Blickling Hall’s history is even longer and more famous.

The Boleyns at Blickling Hall. Blickling Hall is intimately associated with the Boleyn family. It is traditionally said to be where, in c. 1501, Lady Elizabeth Boleyn gave birth to a daughter – Anne. Sadly, the original house was lost to later, seventeenth-century renovations.
