Hace 2 días · ELVINGTON manor descended in the Morers family until 1394, when William Morers granted it to three men, apparently trustees of Ralph, Lord Neville, created earl of Westmorland in 1397. The manor, still comprising 6 carucates, was held by Ralph's widow Joan in 1428.

14 de may. de 2024 · He married, firstly, Lady Dorothy Neville, daughter of Ralph Neville, 4th Earl of Westmorland and Lady Catherine Stafford, on 3 July 1536.2 He married, secondly, Margery Golding on 1 August 1548. He died on 3 August 1562. He gained the title of 16th Earl of Oxford.
Hace 16 horas · Neville‘s most audacious move came in the summer of 1460, when he launched a daring invasion of England from his base in Calais. Joined by Edward, Earl of March (the future King Edward IV), and Richard‘s son Edmund, Earl of Rutland, Neville landed at Sandwich on June 26 with a force of around 2,000 men.

In 1628 Margaret, wife of Sir Richard Verney of Compton Verney (Warws.), succeeded her brother to what was called the manor of Hyde or HydeCoppenhall.
