Communication Studies participate in a variety of student organizations and events, including those listed below. Debate Society Members of Northwestern's Debate Society, which dates back to 1855, have active schedules in the school year, often traveling to seven or ten intercollegiate tournaments a year, trips that are paid for by Northwestern.
Michael Roloff. Professor Emeritus. m-roloff@northwestern.edu. Michael Roloff's research and teaching interests center around interpersonal influence. He has published articles and offers courses focused on persuasion, interpersonal compliance-gaining, conflict management, organizational change, and bargaining and negotiation.
Charles Whitaker is dean and professor at Northwestern University Medill School of Journalism, Media, Integrated Marketing Communications. Whitaker, who holds bachelor’s and master’s degrees from Medill, is the first alumnus of the school to serve as dean.
