Alexander Gottlieb Baumgarten fue un filósofo y profesor alemán este este estudio en la universidad Halle y en 1740 fue nombrado filósofo del Alma Mater Viadrina donde permaneció por 22 años y cuenta con un fallecimiento temprano. Su primer curso de estética fue dictado por el en el año 1742 en la misma universidad ya antes mencionada.

El Collegium Polonicum, un centro de enseñanza e investigación, está gestionado conjuntamente por Viadrina y la Universidad de Poznan. Fundada en 1991.
