According to History, they'd been sailing less than 15 minutes when the boat, carrying a total of seven people, was ripped apart by a massive explosion.

He was Chief of Combined Operations (1942-3), Supreme Allied Commander, Asia (1943-6), the last Viceroy of India (1947) and Chief of Defence Staff (1959-65). He was assassinated by an IRA bomb in 1979.
