2 de oct. de 2020 · Charlie Parker and Lennie Tristano had mutual admiration and understanding for each other, and were good friends. However, their recorded output together is far from extensive and this CD contains the whole of it. Both were great jazz innovators, although Tristano was the first to admit Bird's pre-eminence among all musicians of that period.
13 de mar. de 2023 · The first tracks are some of Tristano’s best-known recordings. ‘Requiem’ and ‘Turkish Mambo’ are both solo piano pieces, with the former being a tribute to Charlie Parker after his death in 1955. Tristano’s terrible sense of loss at Parker’s death is definitely palpable in this spontaneous recording of the blues.

This album chronicles the sadly few recorded encounters between two titans of 1940s jazz, Charlie Parker and Lennie Tristano. Despite the sometimes-reticence of Tristano to solo in the presence of Bird, much of the album is remarkable for the complete musical sympathy these two great musicians bring out in each other.
