Alastair Arthur Windsor, 2nd Duke of Connaught and Strathearn (9 August 1914 – 26 April 1943), was a member of the British Royal Family. He was the only child of Prince Arthur of Connaught and Princess Alexandra, 2nd Duchess of Fife. He was a great-grandson of Queen Victoria through his father and also her great-great-grandson through his mother.

Shortly after Alastair was born, World War I broke out, prompting strong anti-German feelings in the United Kingdom. By 1917 King George V responded by changing the name of the Royal House from Saxe-Coburg-Gotha to the House of Windsor and relinquishing all Germanic titles belonging to royals who were British citizens.
Previous to this it was already apparent from the King's own comments that George's opinion on his far cousin was quite negative. They weren't very close and in 1918, George V had stripped Alastair of all his titles due to the changing of the Royal house to Windsor which meant in practice Alastair only had honors of a Duke and Lord of the UK.
