8 de dic. de 2006 · After 50 years, Leon Fleisher validates my impression by this performance of the two exquisitely beautiful Brahms piano concertos. Piano Concerto 1, which I consider the single most beautiful piano concerto ever composed, began as a sonata for two pianos, then a symphony, and fortunately was finally recast as a piano concerto.

3 de nov. de 2006 · When he recorded these concertos in 1959-61, Leon Fleisher was one of the outstanding young pianists in the world. Shortly afterward he was derailed by a hand ailment, though he eventually returned to two-handed playing.

Album review. Can it be true that these fresh, poetic, powerful, and overwhelmingly virtuosic performances of Grieg and Schumann's piano concertos by Leon Fleisher with George Szell and the Cleveland Orchestra have never been released on compact disc before, that in fact the last time they were available was as a budget-priced LP reissue in the early '70s?
