Hace 1 día · Prince Albert, 1854 ... Albert Francis Charles Augustus Emmanuel of Saxe-Coburg-Gotha was born on 26 August 1819 at Schloss Rosenau, in Bavaria, the younger son of the duke of Saxe-Coburg-Gotha.
Born 1819, Kensington Palace. Died 1901, Osborne House. Queen Victoria was the only child of Edward, Duke of Kent and Princess Victoria of Saxe-Coburg-Saalfeld, and the granddaughter of George III. She married her first cousin, Prince Albert of Saxe-Coburg and Gotha, in 1840 and they had 9 children. She reigned for 63 years.

Up till the age of 10, Albert suffered repeated attacks of croup brought on by the slightest cold.
For much of Ernest's reign, the heir presumptive to Saxe-Coburg and Gotha was his only sibling Prince Albert, consort of Queen Victoria. When it became increasingly clear that Ernest would be childless, the possibility of a personal union between his duchies and the United Kingdom became real, a reality that was deemed undesirable.
