Biography. Edward Ratcliffe, 2nd Earl of Derwentwater was the son of Francis Radclyffe, 1st Earl of Derwentwater and Catherine Fenwick. He married Lady Mary Tudor, daughter of Charles II Stuart, King of Great Britain and Mary Davies, on 18 August 1687. He was also known as Edward Radclyffe. He succeeded his father as of 2nd Earl of Derwentwater.
22 de feb. de 2023 · James Radclyffe spent most of his childhood in France as a childhood companion and playmate of James Francis Edward. Radclyffe was only 16 when his father died and he ascended to the title of third Earl of Derwentwater. He left Paris and returned home to Dilston Castle in Northumberland, to take charge of the Derwentwater estate.
He died, probably intestate, at Gorhambury in July 1643.30 His widow subsequently married Robert, 2nd earl of Warwick (Sir Robert Rich*) and Edward, 2nd earl of Manchester (Edward Montagu*). Ref Volumes: 1604-1629
