World War I. The 5th (West Prussian) Cuirassiers “Duke Frederick Eugene of Württemberg” were a heavy cavalry regiment of the Royal Prussian Army. The regiment was formed in 1717. The regiment fought in the Silesian Wars, the War of the Sixth Coalition, the Austro-Prussian War, the Franco-Prussian War and World War I. It was disbanded in 1919.

He was married first to Auguste of Brunswick-Wolfenbüttel. They had four children: the future King William I of Württemberg, the future Queen Catherine of Westphalia.
Life. Frederick Augustus was the first-born child of Duke Frederick of Neuenstadt who established the second branch line of the Duchy of Württemberg-Neuenstadt. His wife was Clara Augusta of Brunswick. The branch line of Württemberg-Neuenstadt held responsibility for the town of Neuenstadt am Kocher, Möckmühl and parts of Weinsberg.

Duke Alexander of Württemberg (Mömpelgard/ Montbéliard, then Württemberg (now France); 24 April 1771 – 4 July 1833, in Gotha, Thuringia, Germany) [1] was a Duke of Württemberg. The son of Frederick II Eugene, Duke of Württemberg and of Sophia Dorothea of Brandenburg-Schwedt. His sister Sophie Dorothea married Tsar Paul I of Russia.
