After their marriage on 25 January 1897 Princess Alexandra and Prince Sizzo of Schwarzburg lived in Großharthau, and had three children. In 2014 Her Royal Highness attended the World Bank River Blindness Fortieth Anniversary Summit in Washington DC, USA and learned about the river blindness prevention programmes which continue to be replicated across other neglected tropical diseases.
