Carolyne zu Sayn-Wittgenstein, 1868'den 1887'ye kadar en az 44 cilt düzyazı yayınlayan üretken bir yazardı. Eserlerinin çoğu özel olarak basılmıştır. Carolyne zu Sayn-Wittgenstein was a prolific writer, publishing at least 44 volumes of prose from 1868 to 1887. Most of her works were privately printed; the chief of these was Causes intérieures de la faiblesse extérieure de l'Église en 1870 (the *le could be translated as "The Inward Reasons for the Church's Outward Weakness"), a m*ive 24-volume undertaking.

Leavis, hearing him mention that he had grown up in a house with seven pianos, concluded that he must be related to Princess Carolyne zu Sayn-Wittgenstein, who was the lifelong mistress of Franz Liszt.
