23 de mar. de 2018 · Humphry Repton, the last great landscape designer of the Georgian era, advised on some 400 schemes across a 27 year career. Repton filled the void left after the death of Lancelot ‘Capability’ Brown in 1783, and linked the 18 th century landscape tradition with the gardenesque movement of the early Victorian era.
Repton's interest in the 'theatre' of design is evident here. He was fascinated by the optics and illusion of landscape design, both in manipulating perspective to recast the physical landscape and in the 'magical' performance of unveiling, central to his hinged illustrations.

His style went on to inform garden design as Capability Brown had before him, and his work can still be enjoyed all over the country at places like Woburn Abbey in Bedfordshire and Tatton Park in Cheshire.
