Drama Romance Rated: 13+ (PG-13) 1985 1h 40m. Gib, a beer-guzzling slob, and Alison, an uptight Ivy-Leaguer, are an unlikely duo stuck together on a cross-country trip during Christmas break. At first they get on each other's nerves but, as time passes, they find their divergent natures complement each other.
The Sure Thing combines three types of movie that I love — coming-of-age, romantic comedy, and road trip — and pulls each of them off with ease. The two central characters fall in love as they traverse the country, and grow up a little in the process.
