Stanisław Koniecpolski commanded the right flank of the Commonwealth forces during the ensuing battle. On 19 September it had become clear that the Polish–Lithuanian forces were defeated, although they still managed to hold their positions; on 20/21 September, Koniecpolski prevented the army from disintegrating.

Conform instrucţiei, hatmanul polonez afirma că ţara sa nu a încălcat cu nimic acordurile încheiate, iar otomanii dimpotrivă sunt aceia care au încălcat jurământul ajungând la graniţele Poloniei.
Stanisław Koniecpolski (1591 – 11 March 1646) was a Polish military commander, regarded as one of the most talented and capable in the history of the Polish–Lithuanian Commonwealth. He was also a magnate, a royal official ( starosta ), a castellan, a member of the Polish nobility ( szlachta ), and the voivode (governor) of Sandomierz from 1625 until his death.
