Edward Talbot, 8th Earl of Shrewsbury (1561-1617) was married to Jane in 1584, but had no male heir. The title was passed to a distant relative, George Talbot, 9th Earl of Shrewsbury (1567-1630). George died unmarried in 1630, so the title passed to his nephew, John.

Edward Talbot, 8th Earl of Shrewsbury, was buried in St Edmund's chapel in Westminster Abbey. He was baptised in Sheffield on 25th February 1561, the third son of George, 6th Earl of Shrewsbury by his first wife Lady Gertrude Manners. His brothers were Gilbert and Henry. He was educated at Oxford and then travelled abroad.
