25 de nov. de 2023 · James Hamilton, 3rd Earl of Arran (c. 1532 –1609) was a Scottish nobleman and soldier who opposed the French-dominated regency during the Scottish Reformation. He was the eldest son of James Hamilton, 2nd Earl of Arran, sometime Regent of Scotland.
When James Hamilton 3rd Earl of Arran was born from 1537 to 1538, in Hamilton, Lanarkshire, Scotland, his father, James Hamilton 2nd Earl of Arran, was 20 and his mother, Margaret Douglas Countess of Arran, was 23. He married Jean Polwart in 1589, in Scotland, United Kingdom. They were the parents of at least 4 sons and 2 daughters.

James was born on 12 August 1575, probably at Paisley, Scotland, the eldest son of Claud Hamilton and his wife Margaret Seton.At that time his father was only a younger brother of James Hamilton, 3rd Earl of Arran, but he would on 24 July 1587 be created Lord Paisley.
