9 de abr. de 2022 · Helena survived him by almost twenty five years. She retired to a monastery under the monastic name Hypomone (Patience). Helena died on May 23, 1450 in Constantinople. Her children included the last two Byzantine emperors. Constantine XI renamed himself after her maiden name Dragaš (in Greek, Dragasēs), adding it to his own.

She is venerated by the Orthodox Church as a saint, and her memory is commemorated on 29 May, the day of the Fall of Constantinople to the Ottomans and of the death of her son Constantine XI. Her skull, as a holy relic, is treasured in the Monastery of Saint Patapios in Loutraki, Greece.

Helena died on 23 March 1450 in Constantinople. Se casó con Juan VIII Paleólogo en el año 1414, primogénito del emperador bizantino Manuel II Paleólogo y de su mujer Helena Dragaš. Juan fue nombrado déspota en 1416 y parece que asumió el cargo de coemperador poco después. Anna tuvo la consideración de segunda emperatriz, después de su suegra, ante la corte.
