Self-taught astronomer Peter Hansen presented the most complete theory of the Moon’s orbit that was understood in his day and solved the long-standing puzzle of the Moon’s secular acceleration. Hansen, the son of a goldsmith, was unable to secure a formal education and became apprenticed to a clockmaker in Flensburg.
13 de may. de 2024 · Peter Andreas Hansen war der einzige Sohn aus der ersten Ehe des Gold- und Silberschmiedes Nicolay Hansen (1755–1835) in Tondern. Peter Andreas zeichnete sich schon frühzeitig durch besondere Fähigkeiten und physikalisches Interesse aus. Er lernte sehr leicht Mathematik, Fremdsprachen und das Spielen von Musikinstrumenten.
