Kemnay (Gaelic: Camnaidh) is a village 16 miles (26 km) west of Aberdeen in Garioch, Aberdeenshire, Scotland. History [ edit ] The village name Kemnay is believed to originate from the Celtic words that mean "little crook in the river" [2] due to the village location on the bend of the River Don .

The Picardy Symbol Stone, eight miles south of Huntly, is one of the oldest, simplest Pictish symbol stones possibly from as early as the 7th century. Just north of Kirkton, the Dyce Symbol Stones are also worth a visit.

Lauriston Castle, Aberdeenshire. Lauriston Castle stands on a clifftop site near the Aberdeenshire village of St Cyrus and just over a mile inland from the North Sea coast of Scotland. Once a royal fortress, it can claim to be one of the oldest privately owned and inhabited castles in the region. It is a Category C listed building.
