Field Marshal Arthur Wellesley, 1st Duke of Wellington, KG, GCB, GCH, PC, FRS was a soldier and statesman. He was one of the leading military and political figures of 19th-century Britain. His defeat of Napoleon at the Battle of Waterloo in 1815 put him in the top rank of Britain's military heroes. In 2002 he was number 15 in the BBC's poll of the 100 Greatest Britons.
Arthur Wellesley, 1st Duke of Wellington, oko 1. maj 1769 - 14. septembar 1852) je bio britanski vojskovođa i državnik, rođen u Irskoj. Smatra se za jednu od vodećih vojnih i političkih ličnosti 19. veka. Istakao se tokom Napoleonovih ratova. Pobedio je Napoleona u bici kod Vaterloa.
Arthur Wellesley (1769–1852), widely known as the Duke of Wellington, was a British field marshal who is chiefly remembered for the victory of his army at the Battle of Waterloo in 1815, which resulted in the final defeat of Napoleon and the end of the Napoleonic Wars. Wellington had earlier commanded the British forces in the Peninsular War .
