Emil Schürer foi um teólogo alemão, que ficou famoso por seu estudo sobre o povo judeu durante a época de Jesus Cristo. Ele estudou em Erlangen, Berlim e Heidelberg, e fez seu doutorado em Leipzig. A História do Povo Judeu no Tempo de Jesus Cristo foi publicado pela primeira vez em 1891 e Schürer morreu em 1910.
