  2. 12 de oct. de 2023 · Maria Anna Amalia of Courland (12 June 1653, Mitau (Jelgava, Latvia) – 16 June 1711, Weilmünster) was a noblewoman from Courland. A princess of Courland from the Kettler family, she was also Landgravine of Hesse-Kassel via her marriage on 21 May 1673 to her first cousin Charles I, Landgrave of Hesse-Kassel.

This relationship allowed Frederick to join the Prussian army and become commander of all the troops of the Electorate only two years later, in 1672.
