Ulster Unionist Party. The Ulster Unionist Party ( UUP) is a unionist political party in Northern Ireland. [5] The party was founded as the Ulster Unionist Council in 1905, emerging from the Irish Unionist Alliance in Ulster. Under Edward Carson, it led unionist opposition to the Irish Home Rule movement.
Walter Elliot CH MC PC FRS FRSE FRCP (19 September 1888 – 8 January 1958) was a politician of Scotland 's Unionist Party prominent in the interwar period. He was elected to the House of Commons of the United Kingdom in 1918, and besides an interval of months in 1923–24 and 1945–46, remained in parliament until his death.
