William VIII of Aquitaine From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia. William VIII of Aquitaine, (Guillaume VIII in French) (1025 September 25, 1086), whose name was Guy-Geoffroy before becoming Duke of Aquitaine, was Duke of Gascony (1052-1086), and then Duke of Aquitaine and Count of Poitiers (as William VI of Poitiers) between 1058 and 1086, succceeding his brother William VII (Pierre-Guillaume).
