William Harvey, (born April 1, 1578, Folkestone, Kent, Eng.—died June 3, 1657, London), British physician. He studied at Gonville and Caius College, Cambridge, and later at the University of Padua, then considered the best medical school in Europe. After receiving a medical diploma, he was appointed to St. Bartholemew’s Hospital (1609).
