On his death of his brother Edward Herbert, 3rd Baron Herbert of Chirbury in 1678, Henry Herbert succeeded to the barony. He withdrew from the army, was made custos rotulorum of Montgomeryshire 20 December 1679, and joined the party of the Duke of Monmouth, in opposition to James, Duke of York.

Henry Herbert Donaldson (12 May 1857 – 23 January 1938) was an American pioneer of neurology. One of his most influential studies was on the effect of sensory deprivation, based on the study of Laura Bridgman 's brain, on the development of the brain which resulted in the landmark work The Growth of the Brain (1895).

Henry Herbert (born 1617) was a Welsh politician who sat in the House of Commons of England between 1642 and 1654. He fought in the Parliamentary army in the English Civil War . Herbert was the son of William Herbert of Coldbrook. He matriculated at Magdalen Hall, Oxford on 10 October 1634 and entered Middle Temple in the same year.
