The Rt Hon. Wilfrid Ashley (1867-1939) who had been created Lord Mount Temple (2nd creation) in 1932, inherited the Broadlands estate in 1908. Upon his death in 1939, the estate passed to his eldest daughter - Edwina, and through her marriage to Mountbatten, Broadlands passed into the Mountbatten and later the Knatchbull family, where it remains today.
