The book "John Carter of Mars" comprises two novelettes originally published in Amazing Stories pulp magazine: "John Carter and the Giant of Mars" was published in the January 1941 issue with the byline "Edgar Rice Burroughs". However, ERB had nothing to do with the writing of the story! It was written by his younger son, John Coleman Burroughs.
John Carter of Mars (Dell Comics): Dell published three comic issues in 1952, adapting the first three Barsoom books, drawn by Jesse Marsh, who was the Dell Tarzan artist at the time. They were Four Color issues #375, 437, and 488 respectively. They were later reprinted by the successor of Dell, Gold Key Comics as John Carter of Mars #1–3.
