In March 1625 the King had fallen ill with a tertian ague, not necessarily fatal even in an old king with an unhealthy lifestyle and a healthy scepticism about the efficacy of his doctors’ prescriptions.

The wedding dinner was held at York House. where there were said to be "more cooks than guests."
