Dieses sogenannte Palais des Chevalier de Saxe oder auch Palais des Prinzen Johann Georg wurde in einem schlichten und zurückhaltenden spätbarock-frühklassizistischen Stil ausgeführt. Der Gebäudeschmuck stammte vom Bildhauer Johann Gottfried Knöffler (1715–1779). Die Innenräume waren für die damalige Zeit nicht übermäßig groß.

Johann Georg, Chevalier de Saxe, was the illegitimate on of king August der Starke and Ursula Katharina of Altenbockum, previously known as Princess Lubomirka. He was legitimized and his father provided him with the title Chevalier de Saxe. Hebecame a knight of Malta in 1728 but later he joined the army of Saxony.
Die Titelbezeichnung Chevalier ist mit dem Wort Kavalier verwandt. Als Chevalier de Saxe wurde nach Johann Georg auch Joseph Xavier, ein Sohn Xavers von Sachsen, bezeichnet. Militärische Laufbahn. Zunächst war Johann Georg für die geistliche Laufbahn bestimmt und wurde im Jahre 1728 Malteserritter.
