Sir Michael Caine CBE (born Maurice Joseph Micklewhite; 14 March 1933) is an English retired actor. Known for his distinctive Cockney accent, he has appeared in more than 160 films over a career that spanned eight decades and is considered a British film icon.

BIOGRAPHY. On the 14th March, 1933, Michael Caine was born Maurice Joseph Micklewhite in St Olave’s Hospital, Rotherhithe, Bermondsey in South London to parents Ellen Frances Marie (nee Burchell) and Maurice Joseph Micklewhite. Michael’s father worked as a Billingsgate Fish Market porter and his mother was a charwoman.
