John Hamilton, 1st Marquess of Abercorn (1756–1818), only son of Capt John, himself second son of the 7th Earl. James Hamilton, Viscount Hamilton (1786–1814), elder son of the 1st Marquess, predeceased his father. James Hamilton, 2nd Marquess of Abercorn (1811–1885) was created Duke of Abercorn in 1868.
Hace 1 día · James Hamilton was buried on 7 June 1673 in Westminster Abbey "within the north monument door" presumably the north ambulatory. He has no monument or gravestone. He was the eldest son of Sir George Hamilton (a son of James, 1st Earl of Abercorn) and his wife Mary (Butler) sister of the 1st Duke of Ormond.

James Hamilton, 2nd Duke of Abercorn KG CB PC (Ire) (24 August 1838 – 3 June 1913), styled Viscount Hamilton until 1868 and Marquess of Hamilton from 1868 to 1885, was a British nobleman, groom of the stool, and diplomat.
